This is NOT good! "The cool La Tía phase of the IPO since around 2000, and its associated slowdown in the rate of global warming, may have lulled us into a false sense of security." What, exactly has lulled us into a 'false sense of security' when the hot temperature record was broken the last 3 years in a row? https://theconversation.com/global-...-towards-1-5-if-the-pacific-gets-cranky-77175
From the article: "But to reduce global temperatures, we need not only to reduce our net emissions to zero, but to move swiftly into net negative carbon emissions territory. That means that overall we will need to take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, not add more." We'd best be accelerating our planting of trees!
considering how many forests are being destroyed i think a lot more progress can be made by encouraging countries to better protect the ones they have. the practices of farming converted land add a lot of CO2 (along with the many other problems of land/water/air quality and species losses...) and encourage poisoning. we really need people to stand up for what little remains.
