zone 8b, austin texas here. i have an area in my yard that receives excellent sun 8-9 months out of the year, but is blocked by southern trees in the winter months. i am interested in planting loquat, citrus and other evergreen trees/shrubs (wax myrtle, texas sage) in this area. do evergreen species need plenty of winter sun or will 2 hours or so do? i know they will receive plenty of sun most of the year, but im concerned the citrus, loquat and evergreens wont do well if they arent in full sun in the winter too. any advise would be much appreciated! thank you:)
