I have a small flock of perhaps 20 Wiltshire Horn sheep. They are unregistered, but descended from top quality registered animals that were purchased a few years ago. Due to a change of "enterprise focus" these sheep have been left largely untended for the last couple of years (hence the lack of registration), so comprise a mixture of young and old, rams and ewes. The time has now come to get rid of them........

The Wiltshire Horn is, as it's name suggests, a horned sheep. It is classed as an ancient breed. It's main claim to fame is that it requires minimal maintenance as it has a very short fleece which it sheds each year and it is therefore not often affected by flystrike, and require no shearing, crutching, mulesing etc. The wool is of no value, being shed in lumps as the animal moves about, but the meat (this is a meat sheep) is normally very good, and far sweeter and tastier than most commercially available lamb. It is a seasonal breeder, with mature animals normally producing twins. Because of the low maintenance requirement and hardy nature, these animals also make good "grass eaters".

As these animals have been left untended, they are currently quite jumpy but would calm down quickly with a degree of care and exposure to hand feeding etc.

I do not have time to yard these animals more than once, so they would be purchased "in the paddock" and then yarded and loaded for transport.

The flock is located in the Central Tablelands of NSW.

    Best offer secures them!
