Permaculture literature that i have read has mentioned Earthbanks, but only rather briefly.... does anyone have information or links about what Earthbanks actually are, what they do, do any actually exist? An online search only produced one related organization "In Context" (and the popular definition that an earthbank is a mound of dirt).
G'day Peter, Bill has used the term in both the sense TR has linked to above, plus also to describe an actual physical earth mound - usually used to reduce the flow of noise, fire, wind, water etc, or in some cases, to help harvest and utilise one or more of the energies coming into your design.
hi there, don't be too cofused.An earthbank(earthen enbankment)may be what he is refering to.What capter did you find this info? If it is an earthen enbankment,it is merely a mound of dirt which could be used to gain height for a wind break,noise barrier or the wall of a structure.The possibilities are endless.
