My name is Jackie Evers and I work for Merri Community Health Services. We are working on a permaculture garden project at Stewart Lodge Supportive Residential Service in Brunswick which houses 80 residents with intellectual disability, mental illness, drug and alcohol issues and other social disadvantages. The project involves getting the residents outside in the garden as a therapeutic technique and also as a good source of physical activity and vitamin D. All of the produce from the garden is used in the kitchen to provide nutritious, healthy meals.

We require volunteers to help care for the garden, provide innovative and creative ideas for the development of the garden, and to help engage the residents with the garden. They need to be able to commit at least once per month, on an ongoing basis.
