I know it doesn't look all that pretty, but hey, that 300 gallons has come in handy on a few occaisions... I am sure that someone with a bit more panache could pull the same thing off in a much classier way. Of course, if we had the money I would get rid of the whole thing and put in a 5000 gallon tank tomorrow...
Hi Richard Well if you haven't seen rain heavy enough to overflow the first drum then I won't in Adelaide ;-) So I don't need the double stack. I don't think I could have a gravity fed irrigation system off this but I could be wrong.
Okay, so that doesn't look all that pretty either, but we have a few of these under various downpipes on this place, and again the extra 50 gallons of storage is better than nothing. There is nothing sealing those tap threads either. We just drill a hole with a spade bit slightly smaller than the threads on the tap, and the plastic barrel wall is thick enough that you can just thread it in and get a good seal. I myself thought that we would need to find rubber washers and retaining nut to get a good seal, and the a wwoofer we had here, Tim Farmer went ahead and did the first one, and we are still using it without any (significant) leakage over a year later.
