Yeah, well I stuffed up with the cream I bought cos I thought I was being real smart and getting the near use by date cream on special and it was lite cream...I'm beating it madly for 10 minutes or so and nothings happening, beat a bit more, still as runny as water. Pick up the bottle and there it is as plain as the nose on your face "Not suitable for whipping" !!! Bloody low fat reduced fat rubbish....knew I shoulda gone for the good King Island stuff

firstly I like the forum just as it is 8) although a for sale section would be good if not to difficult to implement

I also agree with what Tam said ........

I avoid clubs anyway  after years of horse clubs I am far too cynical

and from what littler contact I have had with the permie scene there seems to be a lot of "trendies" wanting to make money

I went to a day course once ........drove over 100km to get there and lasted about 10 mins ....... the place was full well dressed trendies who arrived in shiny staus symbol cars and all stunk of perfume !!!!!!!!!! I couldnt stop coughing a couldnt breath so we got our unfashionably
dressed selves into our old ute and drove home again

ok so maybe my preducdices are showing  but I just have no time for money hungry consumers playing at being "green"

this is also what I was trying to explain on the topic about about communes ......... they seems aimed at that type of people ....... I dont wish them any harm but I dont want to associate with them apart from the fact most dont care that their perfumes are killing me

we just want to grow our own food and stay chemical free so maybe I can continue to live a bit longer

Yep a classifieds section would be good, I buy bugger all ever (no money) but I am addicted to reading classifieds or for sale ads. The Pop physiologists would say 'consumerism fantasy’....... but just because I fantasize about it doesn’t make me an axe murderer (does it Tully??). :D

i'm happy to try a classifieds section, but as for different sub-topics, no fr*ckin' way, for all the reasons already mentioned.. trust me having 5 other message areas would make our little forum bad bad bad. :D

but- i would consider it if the message volume were a lot more..

    Hey Frosty,

Just a little bit of light humour. You'd love my garden club, NOT! It's like the blue rinse club. We go on excursions and borrow the elderly cits mini bus. I'm the youngest member at 40! (well, almost, there are 2 younger)

Anyway, what is it about old ladies and perfume, bless them? My husband stopped going to the meetings because he couldn't breath!! I pictured him choking when I was reading your post. I'm not laughing at you, just laughing at my husband. He's eyes started to water!!! :sad4: He's a very polite bloke and it was really funny watching him 'suffering' just because he didn't want to offend anyone.

The good things about old ladies though is they (on the whole) love babies, so whenever I go anywhere with the garden club, I can always count on some old ladies sweeping DD from my arms subsequently freeing me up so I have some free time to go exploring.

    Hey Muzza,

Dan the Man's slogan says it all "Jack of all trades, master of none". That's us permies. (Do I speak for many?)

Anyway, I think the general consensus is we like it the way it is; with a classifieds section/notice board. You could place announcements and adds but any discussion should be carried out in the forum.

:) Think I follow the idea of this thread....
I have had a permaculture design done for my place cost $600 but that included my chook tractor. Margie is available for ongoing advice so I consider it money well spent. The permaculture group at Cowra sounds like the one mentioned...hasn't been a meeting since I aplyed in April etc etc...all busy doing other things. One person told me it is really now a social group of friends...which is nice for them but not much help to newbies like me.
So I am going to put up some flyers and see if anyone is interested in a support/interest group for permaculture/organic/sustainable living. (That is when I find the time) There is a group in Orange but that's 45mins drive from here...time and expense
Hence this site is the best thing since sliced bread...opps not a permaculture concept..but you get the idea.
Even with the non-permaculture stuff some of you post it's all good fun and interesting and if not I just ignore that thread. Life is too short for too many rules and regs so keep the posts coming thick and fast. You never know what you'll inspire in others
    Cheers
    Cathy

    Oh Tully,

That ones just like your axe pic!

They're both very nice. I like the other one because of the colours although I reckon the guys'd like this one better.

    It's up to you.
