Any suggestions for fruiting vines to grow against a south facing timber fence in Melbourne? Garden receives part shade in late afternoon. Spot will still be but protected from the most fierce of the summer sun.

Never considered choko as had only seen them when I lived in Queensland (and didn't like them much back then). Perhaps the fence line gets a bit more sun than I expected as the crab apple has done fabulously well in similar position. Wondering about a kiwifruit?

The flower you have adopted Eco - can that be used on a south face (southern hemisphere)? What is it's name - it looks like a "black eye susan" with out the black eye.
    best regards

DOLICHOS, Hyacinth Bean. Sun/part shade; annual that reseeds.
lablab. Wonderful climber which remains covered with delicately perfumed cup-shaped violet-purple flowers; foliage retained to the ground midsummer to frost; beans edible but deep purple pods best left for ornamental value on plant.www.sugarcreekgardens.com/Vines.htm

Monstera (vines grown in full sun are more productive than vines grown in shade).

    Ornamental Grape (leaves edible)

    Nasturtiums

    chocko(s)

Mini kiwi (Actinidia arguta) ‘Issai’ (self pollinating vine-not artic type) ?

    Clove currant (Ribes odoratum)

Passion fruit vines. (there are a lot of varieties)

If you were a bit more tropical
pepper Piper nigrum(Panniyur-2 (Krishna) Var shade tolerant)
    Kava (Piper methysticum)?
    Pitaya - Dragon Fruit ? *

To train on a trellis (espalier):-
    Sambucus canadensis (Elderberry)

    Mulberries (white is my pick)

it seems most productive stuff needs the sun to do well

Yep, which is why I was hoping someone might be aware of an understory vine that grows in Melbourne's mediterranean type climate.
