Ages ago I found big old riddler (garden sieve), which has enabled me to convert rocky clay soil to something I can use. BUT, right now I'm convalescing from a small operation, and am not allowed to lift, dig, rake, hoe for weeks and weeks.

I already had a hole dug to plant a fig tree, and had intended to riddle the rocky stony stuff before I put it back in the hole with the tree, but such heavy work is out. Then I saw an old fan from the lounge room we were chucking out. I got the fan's front safety grill, stuck it over the hole I'd dug, and just trowelled soil onto it, so the riddled stuff could fall into the hole.

Even if I wasn't restricted to light work, such a mini-riddler would be useful for small jobs.
