Hi My friend grows peashoots hydroponically. He has to pay to dump a lot of seeds and roots after cutting off the plants. The seeds are soaked but still pretty firm. The seeds and their roots are althgether like bricks. Someone suggests that he take them to chook farm. He is not that keen. Is there any other ways of using them? thanks.
If they grow in chemicals, please don't feed them to chickens. (I don't know anything about hydroponics except that water is involved!) I don't quite understand: are these spent pea roots, after harvest? They're annuals, so I don't think they would continue to grow much.... Or are they thinnings from early in the season? If early, maybe you could plant them? Many people "pinch" off the tops to make them more bushy. Sue
there is no chemicals used. yes, they are spent pea roots after harvest. they are grown in small trays. feeding them to worms, the worms seem not like them. Is it possible to feed some kind of fish or kettle? or make fertiliser? sure you can bury them in the garden soil, but there are so much of them, 500kg a week.
Pea, I believe they would be a fabulous resource for anyone who owns herbivores, dairying, pigs, riding schools, beef cattle. They would make a great mulch and would compost well. Cheers
