I love that painting of the sea scene - those waves are great - and so is the pelican in the first picture - I was nearly expecting it to look around at me!

Your Mum is very talented, has she been painting for long?

I'll tell her you said so Fran :D she needs all the encouragement she can get.
She's been painting for a few years but has really gone ahead in leaps and bounds since having some lessons.
I think she got the light through the wave just spot on and I really like that one too. I'll have to drop some hints and see if it comes in the mail for my birthday

Hiya Frosty, yeah, it's a campdrafter on a little piece of scrap paper .
It was an experiment in a new style.....and I think she found her niche.

I can just imagine her being "instructed" over her shoulder by my non-arty stepfather who's family were all horsemen and campdrafters LOL

    How are the gorgeous goatlings??

These are great! Still love the campdrafter.

Thanks for the info about the MSNGroup. I'll take a closer look when I get some time.

Exhausted today :sleepy5: think I'll get an early night.

    Hey Tully,

These are oils aren't they? The texture looks kinda pastel.

When we went for our 'big holiday' along the Great Ocean Road (OK, so it was a weekend away - we don't get out much...) we decided we wanted a proper souvenir of the area and visited every gallery we could find looking for a painting that depicted the area. The first three are EXACTLY what we were looking for. Do you think we could find anything? :( There were no local artists who painted local scenes. Those are lovely paintings.

:D My birthday is in 4 weeks

The lighting is perfect, your Mum deserves the encouragement. I expected you to say that she had been painting for ages - I'm doubly impressed.

Awwww, you guys, just wait til I tell Mum all of your positive comments, she'll be so chuffed, ty!

She used to exhibit but I don't know if she has recently and she works in a gallery (all the artists do so many hours in return for their work hanging there...I think :? )

The frames are the killers because it then makes an amateur's work too expensive if they try to recoup the cost....frames are like a couple of hundred dollars sometimes. I prefer no frames anyhew :D

Thanks again, off to tell her your nice words now...
