HI I would like to find out what people use for hot fencing to keep chickens. It has the following requirements, I need to be able to move it, i.e. pig tractor, chicken tractor. No electricity access i.e. I would require a solar energizer etc. I've seen poultry nets but I'm not sure about the height, the cost between 90cm high and 110 cm high is nearly double i.e. 170$ vs 340. (for 50m) lengths. I have considered the 90cm version with a solar energizer, this would allow me to move the chicken tractor. But I was wondering if the space would be enough for the chickens? I guess at 50m length I could make a camp of 150 sqm. Generally chickens tend to fly over fences so I'm wondering how this works with the chicken tractor.
everyone I know that does this sort of pasturing uses electric netting. I've not heard first hand anything about the reliability of the solar energizers. I have seen some tractors that keep the chooks completely enclosed but there are usually only around 10 chooks per rig. (the ones I've seen have a covered "yard" and the coop as one complete unit)
