    i believe i have enough timber to keep a bloke going for a year
    perhaps share timber;;oak, box ,casurina,robinia ,black locust,honey locust,radiata:rofl:

    My son was asking about Hickory. He wants to chip it for smoker boxes in bbq's.

    I just cut up several large apple limbs for that very reason. People are going to need it here for the Salmon runs come fall. :)

    Hmm just need to find an apple tree. I think it is too warm here for apples to grow.

    So it seems there are different woods used for bbq smokers. Sorry Andrew I seem to have side tracked your thread.

    the butchers at Inverell use redgum or ironbark

    Andrew you and I seem to be in the same boat. I need a portable sawmill for alders, cedars, pines, and a few fruit tree logs / limbs. I looked at purchasing a manual one and fell over laughing at the price. I am hoping to barter with someone. I will let you know how it goes.

    On the plus side, I think I found someone to buy my red cedar so long as I cut it into 18" bucks or whatever they called it.

    Thanks Andrew. My daughter was at Inverell just over a week ago photographing Kindy Kids. She said it was FREEZING lol

    yep -2 here this morning with a little high cloud to keep the morning cool
    there are plenty of those portable sawmills lying around rusting!

    Gday Andrew maybe you could look into the lucas mill forums for contacts, or contact lucas mill company for a contact in your area
    just a thought
    all the best if you were closer I'd think about, dreaming here but would love to see our local concils have a portable sawmill as part of there civil works kit
