We are seeking a person who can design and help install a permaculture to our 160 acre paradise. The property is situated in a mountain valley in the Coastal mountain range Between Eureka and Redding California. The land consists of forest and open meadow. The soil type is mainly loam. The average temperatures range from 50% to 90% F from late March/April to November/December. And 10% to 60% from November/December to March/April.

Our community consists of about 15 people who have joined together to create an intentional neighborhood on the 160 acres. We are a diverse group of all ages and lifestyles.

    Hi Joe,

I think the best way for you to 'permaculture' your property is to get all of your community to do a PDC with someone. Go to the American permie contact list on the PRI site above and you'll find someone who could come in and teach you all. Permaculture is about taking resonsibility for how we live on this planet. It would inspire all of you to do this if you all did a course. The costs would be the same.... remember the saying...give a man a fish and he is fed for a day teach a man to fish (sustainably) and he will be fed forever....go well and goodluck on your permie journey. :D Kathleen

    Hi Kathleen,
Yes, what you describe here is what we are looking for. But we would prefer someone who senses a specific leading and/or a passion for this area.

    Thanks, Joe

    G'day,

I could recommend that you get in contact with Penny Livingston-Stark at https://www.regenerativedesign.org (Bolinas CA) for more information. Penny is a fine designer herself and has a great training program and alumni of capable folk around her. I agree with Kathleen that having the community do a PDC would put everyone on the same page....You might also want to consider doing some work with Holistic Management - https://www.holisticmanagement.org who are based in Albuquerque NM, this would be on the basis of 'Decision-making Frameworks' for your community.

    All the best,
