Hi Sweetpea. The growing season here starts now (april/may), and about september/october is harvest time. Some vegetables (like kale and brussel's sprouts) can stay on the land during winter. Some herbs (like sage and rosemary) stay too, but the leaves become dry and we'll have to wait until next spring for fresh ones. This is a 'moderate climate': the winters are not very cold, only freezing a little and sometimes snow. More often the winter is very rainy and windy.

Here are some photos I took today. Some of the herbs I planted before are now gone, slugs ate them ... Only the thyme is still there. The onions are growing well, and one of the potatoes (in the back). I planted new parsley and some tomato plants ... hoping the slugs will stay away now.
Do you see the terracotta round shape? That's an 'olla'. For when the rainy times are over (I think they are now, or will be soon). View attachment 3037 View attachment 3038

I promised to show you the progress ... Of course this month I was very busy gardening. There's not only the herb spiral, but also a vegetable bed in the back yard. And I am busy developing a rainwater harvesting system with a small pond. But finally here are some photos for you. Some weeks ago I bought some different herbs snails don't like. So now it looks like the real thing ;) The onions and the potatoe plant are still growing well. View attachment 3063 View attachment 3064
