Amaranth is new too me i still call it "Love-lies-a-bleeding" It pops up everywhere in my garden a real weed
You do know you can eat it don't you? Like a spinach. I chopped some fine and mixed it through goat mince, with a handful of herbs, and made rissoles for tonights dinner (sorry to the vegans out there....). And you can collect the seeds and make weeny tiny popcorn.
wow.. i knew cereals / porridge or whole wheat can be, and used as a skin care. but what about the weed Amaranth, just Googled it and it's in fact a herb that almost anywhere grows. and the fact that you can really eat it, man, that blows my mind! i haven't seen any Amaranth but it really boosts up my curiosity and would in fact like to use it for my own. thanks for the info!

Glad to see that these almost superfoods are good for lots of things. there are two main kinds of amaranth, the flowering kind, Love lies bleeding and grain amaranth. there's a lot of oxalic acid in the greens, so we shouldn't eat to many of them. But the grain kind of amaranth has excellent qualities. Compared to other grains amaranth seeds have a much higher content of the minerals calcium, magnesium, iron and of the amino acid Lysine. (Grains are usually low in that, corn has none. Most people get their Lysine from meat.) I'm trying the grain kind this summer and experimenting with some recipes.
I've grown leaf amaranth over summer and have been using it in omelettes with a bit of dead pig er I mean bacon. It doesn't seem to be as wet as silver beet - doesn't get as "sloppy" when cooked. I'd like to try the grain as the idea of tiny pink popcorn appeals!
I think that veggies and specially the spinach make a good deal with the skin related issues and also the natural remedies are the better helper in the problem's like that kind of ....
