    Dear all,

my name is Sandra and for a couple of years I have dedicated lots of my time to helping former child soldiers in Northern Uganda. Together with my husband I have also founded a small charity which is called Kriegskinderstiftung (roughly war children foundation). Right from the beginning we were trying to follow a holistic approach but it was during the years that we first started to grasp what this actually means and includes and how many layers of distraction, errors and false beliefs must be left behind in order to even start focusing on problem solving instead of alleviating symptoms only. That is how we, among others, stumbled across permaculture.

What we would like to do now is to help our Ugandan partner organisation "Peace & Development Foundation Africa", situated in Gulu and Anaka, Northern Uganda, to learn about and apply permaculture principles with the aim of permaculture gardens becoming communal projects. But we need all the help that we can get as we are neither gardeners nor permaculture specialists and our Ugandan beneficiaries are farmers/gardeners but have never come across permaculture so far. I have started to educate myself, but then of course, I am of no help in Uganda, knowing neither soil, nor plant... So what I am doing at the moment is really network building and that is where you could come in:

Please, let me know if there are current projects and/or people already involved in capacity building in Uganda that we can work together with. I have checked the forum but the last entries involving Uganda largely date back to 2014 or earlier and the people involved have not communicated via this forum any later. I will try to contact them, but if you can, maybe you would be so kind as to forward all related people and projects to me?

We are already in contact with an organization from Wales called sector39 and hope to work together for the first time this year. But I think it would be rather helpful to find out who else is out there. Really helpful would also be connections to German permaculture "activists" as I am German-based and on a long-term scale we are planning to initiate sustainability partnerships between German and Ugandan communities that should definitely include permaculture - on both sides.

Thank you for reading this to the end. ;-)
All the best and looking forward to hearing from any of you.
    Sandra
