Hi, I'm hoping a fellow owner of a Fowlers Vacola Electric Preserving Kit can help me.

I need to know the measurements of the metal plate that goes inside the preserving kit in able to replicate one. We have acquired a second-hand current model kit that still works but was missing a lid and the plate. I bought a replacement lid at Fowlers, but they don't sell the plate, and we thought they'd be a little miffed if we broke out a tape measure in the store and started measuring up the plate. Having seen it we know we can make one as long as we have the correct measurements - width of the piece of metal itself included please.

I have tried registering on the phpBB Australian preserving forum but the admin must be on holidays or something as my registration needs to be but has not yet been approved. :(

It just so happens I have one handy right now. It's a square with the corners cut off. The square itself measures 23.5 cms. Three of the edges measure approx 18.5 cms, and the fourth side measures 17 cms. The short side also has a tiny V cut out of it in the middle which measures .5 cm for each side of the V. To make the 4th side shorter than the other 3 sides, you need to cut bigger corners, measuring 4.5 cms. The other two corners measure 4 cms. It sounds really complicated, but it's not really. Good luck.
