That was great. Incredibly as I referenced in a link in my article on desert plants, they naturally produce sunblock for the surrounding ecosystem. But destroy the vegetation community and you destroy that effective naturally occurring sunblock.

Answer/Solution ? Rebuild vegetation systems back to original condition or better than you found it and with concepts utilizing natural processes, not some profit driven bastardized version of genetic modification.

On a related note, I saw this yesterday: Global Warming Cause Felt by Satellites and Space Junk

Just when you think this stuff couldn't get any worse, worse comes along with a sledge hammer. Now what was funny about these findings is that the CO2s in these upper atmospheric reaches did reflect sun's heat back into space, but there were other consequences and side effects. Go figure! 8)

so in nice simple common sense terms michael,

if we replant the maximum we can of the habitat and let it develop to what it was when the gov' and their greedy bed fellows ripped it down, the resultant shade will keep the earth cool (we know this not theory but hard fact if standing in the blazing sun one seeks shade for instant protection) china has so much low atmospheric (the only thing CO2 can be) pollution from near on 2 billion people the greater majority of who have no proper housing, no petrol powered vehicle of their own(push bikes shanks's pony) they ahve no power so there is no pressure on them to fill a mcmansion with white goods. imagine what their assumed pollution would be if the whole 2bil had power supply and telephone.

they ahve degraded land that they know they need to regrow to help suck up this CO2 no tax system will fix it (rings a chord hey)

so pull down those don quixote windmills and replant the forest habitat and watch our climate revert back to pre CO2 nonsense days.

not just here in aus' but java, indonesia and malaysia as well rip out those oil palms and give the orangutan back his home range and the monsoonal rain belt will return as we once had it, and all that extra rain won't push up sea levels guaranteed it never did around 100 to 1k years ago, for those in FNQ there should be 3 to 6 cyclones a season not one every once in a while that's a healthy natural system same for darwin and nw wa.

    with you there

    lets do it

stop carving up degraded farm land for homes and industry, a family home should be modest 3 or 4 bedroom on no less than 27 perches place for kids to play outside not on the computer inside, room for gardens and a mango tree or such.

the plastic wealthy so called educated yuppies have no idea how simple it was almost no one lived in the street. the gov' did well on low taxes.

I'm a bit puzzled by these links to this site. Generally an entire collection of programming comes up when I click it, but not specifically what you are referecing. When I click the search and type, it saus no results. Is there an actually specific link to the page or actual program ?

He's actually posted a couple of links from that site that haven't come up properly. Maybe it's one of those subscription deals that is behind a pay wall.

Oh yes thanks. I believe one of the other members did post that link for me. I am not sure how much News the rest of the world gets on how really bad things are here in the European Union, but there are far more protests and violent incidents than many outside realize. (This is going to be off topic for this thread, but oh well) From my perspective, the E.U. was basically created mainly for the enrichment of both Deutschland (Germany) & Frankreich (France). My wife's brother who is also from Sweden lives in Spain. His wife (who is Spanish) told my wife years ago when the idea of a European Union was being formulated and being sold as the only thing that will save Europe, that such a Union was mostly necessary to fight and compete against the United States. I understand the games countries play with their citizens lives, but it had more to with a small segment of Society who control and run European Corporations and Politics to pursue their own personal wealth.

I actually met a Greek woman who worked at a Bank here in Sweden back in 2006. She told me way back then that job opportunities were tough there in Greece and that many Greeks like herself left for employment reasons. She told me that when Greece entered the European Union, that almost immediately prices on everything inflated. Same stories came to me back then from Spain and also Italy. The Mediterranean cultures never were the career obsessed and consumer driven culture that the northern Europeans were. They for the most part were fairly content with simple life and close family ties. Northern and Central Europe were more influenced in their decisions and what they considered a more important materialistic lifestyle. Mainly the World War II stumble many of them and they opted for a much strict Socialist way of lifestyle where they gave total faith and support to a Secular Governing which would take care of all there needs and dump the long time traditional and cultural values which also trashed traditional family values in the process. That young Greek girl told me Greeks had closer families back then and though not perfect (nothing is) there was more of a community support and togetherness. That all changed after entering the E.U. She said before ONLY the Father/Husband worked for the family at one job while the mother stayed home. Now she said, it is not uncommon for the Fathers/Husbands to have two jobs, but also the mother works full or part time. The E.U. demands also that certain social benefit entitlements be supplied by the governments who join. Unfortunately what most don't realize is that some of this stuff (much of it ridiculous) takes a lot of $-£-€ monies. Hence hefty taxes and working more to meet the same standard and all the while encouraging unbridled consumerism to pay for this government sponsored junk that traditionally close families took care of previously. Previously the traditional family took care of an Elderly family member. Now it is viewed as a Government responsibility. That takes money. Sweden itself is not known for close families necessarily. Family structure is common for a man and woman simply to shack up and have kids and if things don't work out you simply go your separate ways. Somehow the Government Swedish Taxpayers) will help out with the kids. They actually have a Swedish term or word for that type of newer Secular Family structure arrangement. They are called "Sambos" instead of husband and wife.

The E.U. is also obsessed with control of agriculture. To illustrate a few examples of just how control freakish they really are, many traditional agricultural products and processes are against the Law here. Certain centuries old varieties of cheeses are illegal for Farmers to make and sell locally because they supposedly don't meet E.U. standards. Yet these traditional small town cheese making operations have been around for centuries and no one ever died from these products. Certain eastern European wines and wine making processes which were around for centuries and even allowed under communist rule are now presently against the Law in the E.U. In the markets as another example, ONLY ONE type of cucumber (a long slender variety is allowed in the major Grocery Store markets here for no other reason in that they a part of a supposedly superior E.U. standard. The asinine list of things is endless. Only in the E.U. could they get away with this. For whatever reason they have always accepted some type of iron fist type of rule no matter what the cloak of kinder government is presented in the propaganda brochure. I highly doubt such things would fly in the USA or Australia.

On your link dealing with independent Greek citizens taking matters into their own hands and NOT depending or waiting on government is interesting. They are going back to old traditional farming community and family values type of system. If it's not broken why fix it. Again, I enjoyed the link. :y:

me i'm not so sure we hope not but it looks like at least a single standard world for the west, that iron fist may yet be around the corner.

Some recent information has come out not long ago on Meteo-systems WeatherTec and other weather creation and modification technologies like those of the Australian Rain Technologies co. I'm interested in some aspects of their technology and absolutely hate others components like Chemical cloud seeding which is spreading it's junk even in pristine wilderness areas of California. Anyway here is a further post. I'm hoping others have seen or observed and maybe wondered about some of the amazing natural phenomena associated with cloud formation and rainfall enhancement by healthy vegetation and geographical locations.

What's wrong with just planting more trees? It's cheap, requires minimal upkeep, cleans pollution, provides habitat to the umpteen species that are dwindling in numbers/going extinct, prevents soil loss, provides resources for future generations, etc. etc. etc. Is it just hubris that makes humans think they can control their environment through technology?

Absolutely. There is so much evidence with the true way Earth works, why not just replicate what has worked without fail for thousands of years.

No money in that I guess.

All for tree planting as part of the solution, but it can be used as greenwash to allow the culprits to continue BAU.
Deny on one hand and claim action on another.
We see the logging companies claim to plant more trees than they cut down....no questions asked about age difference and diversity.

yes! no money for the manipulators and the scientists or their ego's or power plays. also no excuses for gov' to over price utilities or raise false taxes that fix nothing.

plant habitat stop destroying habitat, take the profit grab from investors in industries that rely on slash and chip technology can't say burn that belongs to the terra preta lot.

all these fireworks the making of them the transporting of them the placement of them and all that smoke and bad gases and they claim carbon neutral because they plant trees!!!??? where do they actually plant these trees? and are they planting habitat or plantation native trees to be harvest at a later date?

and teh pals of the ccco2 promoters the weather sciences are using different modelling mathematics to try and cover why they simply can't predict tomorrows weather, give up i say their el nino's nina's oscillation stuff simply does not work outside of more theory and conjecture, they achieve no hard facts.

lets repair the damage and stop the rot!

Meteorologists seem to predict my weather here quite accurately with very little error and have done so for as long as I can remember.

    G'day Kevin (EI)

Welcome (belatedly) to the PRI Forum.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your interest in the science of climate change, and in particular, the following question:

Why does traditional Science opt for the "Fix-It-Pill" approach to correcting dangerous ecological disaster circumstances like this runaway freight train called climate change?

Not all scientists follow the 'fix-it-pill' approach. Many scientists in Australia understand that the problem requires a multidisciplinary, measured and above all, integrated approach. Just a few (off the top of my head) examples of where these scientists can be found:

Griffith University - Climate Change Response Program

Australian National University - Climate Change Institute

    CSIRO - Climate Change Unit

Over here in Europe, do you how they calculate a forest and what they officially attach to their forest acreage ? Thousands of acres of newly planted trees no more than a foot tall. At least Sweden does.

Sadly, more than likely, if they actually started a major tree growing/planting program, some big business entity like Monsanto would be introducing faster growing weaker GMO Trees. Nothing will get done if there is no financial gain for some big corporation and the politicians who get the credit for backing them. Funny how some things work the same in ALL countries.

    Thanks for the links Markos

The problem though is the real causes of climate change are never discussed by the media and the only solutions that get any PR to the public are all these last ditch effort kooky Sci-Fi schemes which are promoted for no other reason I can find other than their importance as entertainment value. When the Press shows images of Climate Change or Global Warming conferences and the adolescent behavior of world leaders bickering over economics and what's in it for me attitudes, then the public becomes turned off. Over in the states it's more about one political party hating the other and vice versa.
