I am looking for a permanent situation where I can contribute my skills, tools and energy in a rural situation where folks are building self-sufficiency through cottage industry and/or small-scale food production (WA, OR, ID, MT, BC). I would be looking for a place that offers simple housing for myself and a small wage or share of revenues generated or the ability to earn money independently. My skills and interests include: Micro-farming, organic gardening, raising dairy goats (10+ years), cheese-making, sustainable homesteading, renewable energy, green construction, political organizing, computer skills (i.e. professional web design, web-based activism, digital graphics, databases & spreadsheets), writing and editing, verbal communication, teaching, intentional community, permaculture, photography, herbology, cooking and music. I am a Certified Permaculture Designer. I have 20 years farming experience. At 55 years of age (male), I seek an opportunity where I am not called upon to carry the whole weight of a project, but I am healthy and I have enough stamina to contribute valuable energy to a team effort. No money to invest, just skills, some tools, creativity and humor.

Are you restricted to those states, or would you consider an East Coast venture? South Carolina?

    Hi Chrys,

I'm a super noob here in the forums so I don't even know if my intro post is up yet, but you sound very much like someone I should talk to. I am working on beginning something in the 1-2 year time frame in OR, or WA.

We are a family of three wanting to move from the midwest. Our ideal situation would be an already established organic farm in a warmer climate.

We are looking for a new venture as well.
We are college educated, been gardening all our lives, and ready to make the move to a longer growing season. We are open to do a direct purchase, crop share, co-own and operate etc. We are energetic, highly motivated self-starters with extensive know-how and experience with organic/biodynamic/sustainable/permaculture techniques, growing and marketing, cheese making dairy/meat goats, sheep, equine, and poultry and basic maintenance to manage a farm.

Please feel free to contact us with any possible matches in any part of the world and for more detailed information, resume, and interview.
