    EROEI suggest otherwise
The cheapest best coal and oil has already been burned what's left will be more expensive to extract and inferior.
The ponzi scheme needs a steady supply of cheap oil to survive not just oil.
Quite a good analysis on here

when you factor in equivalent energy values per barrel you get an under supply to demand in 2015 and thats based on the pretty optimistic predictions by the IEA.

So the prediction of falling oil prices over the coming years by the IEA is just spin to keep us all deluded that it is business as usual? (Okay I'm slow on the uptake!) So.......that would be....to allow as much money to be made as possible before it all goes pear-shaped?
Which means the price of everything is going to go UP and the powers that be will wring hands and lament the situation but generally do bugger all about it? (Gee, now I sound like Len! LOL - Hi len!)

    sorry mouseinthehouse,

    didn't intend converting you.

from reports i see on tv good coal reserves are in place in qld and nsw, so even with expensive renewable power to make things expensive, our stat gov at least is nurturing a coal mining based economy our bigger if not biggest coal buyer being china and japan own grazing land here that they want to mine coal on.

the gov care less the more we pay the more taxes they get. and we lose industry to off shore so jobs get less, bit of a glut of work up here now as plenty of jobs in these new mines.

just a reminder since the planned to have no effect carbon tax has hit our grocery billl up from around $130 to near on $200, can only get worse as the tax industry bites, as our food is grown a very long way away from us all.

before asking those above questions you need to look outside, our garden productivity is down as water gets very tight we are down to just below 1/2 of our 45kl capacity. and can't afford more tanks.

we shop in gympie or maryborough, so there is the usual competition 4 grocery chains. yes we saw that furphy about food prices dropping it is a red herring as maybe peoples imaginations or their own spending capacities are clouding that 2.7% probably equates to around $7 of our fortnight shop. that will put around 4 litres of fuel in a 60 litre tank. we promise not to splurge it or write home to mum about our windfall. and if i recall the person who proposed that reduction said it was only a temporary factor, should we maybe book a world cruise??

as much as we budget for one trip to town once a week, often medical and dental throw that to the wind, and now we have one of our grand sons with us he has issues from broken marriage and disfunctional father who does not pay his share of the kids.

call the who? the accc and do what our shopping is not an exact science so we have no idea which products are dearer but f&v will be high on the list, need reality.

the accc should be telling us.

so me just explaining ourselves don't imagine any reality coming out of it. no good saying carbon tax stuff is not increasing prices toyed with getting something transported from up north but the fuel levy ended those pipe dreams. tax transport movement will stop. that will mean expensive food as the accc allows shops to profiteer.

life is no way easy, and it will never get any easier, try living with a critical pain tooth for a couple months. instead of carbon tax and solar subsidies fix public health system. help the needy instead of the greedy. telstra doesn't even have to provide us a telephone line, not waht they indicated early on, so we ahve to settle for expensive wireless internet, that need and external antenna.

Short term pain relief or band aide solutions are never going to work weather its teeth or power supply.
BAU isnt going to make things any cheaper.

what short term pain relief????? long term suffering guaranteed, got no idea what BAU means, and only planting trees will give long term benefit.

so for no gain at all in our foreseeable lifetime we should suffer the pain so a few can enjoy manipulation.

For someone who claims not to know what BAU was you've described Business As Usual to a tee
