    Hi!
Just realised, not sure how long it's gone on... I have posted replies to a couple of threads and they've not been there when I've next logged on.

PMs have gone missing too over the past few weeks.

Christopher asked in the Mango thread if anyone else has had issues.

    Have you?

I have seen whole threads go missing! I started one, thanking all of the people who sent me seed (everything is doing really well, eating daikon radish every day, tomatoes coming along, eating big nice green beanss, etc! Yumm, and THANK YOU again!), and its gone completely.

Then there is all of the porn and pill spiels that stick around for a while.

Muzza, where are you? What is happening?

nothings wrong with the forum. what you've seen may be related to a bunch of threads i deleted when RainbowFarmer left.

she asked me to delete her posts when she left and since i consider posts to be the property of the person who posted them i said sure. in the particular cases where she was the main participant in a thread, it was easier with phpBB to simply delete the thread. i didn't think it would be a problem since those threads in particular didn't really make sense with all her posts gone anyway.

bottom line: phpbb does not make it easy to delete posts

Crikey, I would have thought that when you contribute to a public forum you are implicitly giving your consent to that contribution becoming public domain. I am absolutely flabbergasted and dismayed that anything I have put out there in any threads that RF may have begun or anywhere else should be removed at someones whim. The integrity of this forum just took a dive.

On that thread, I am POSITIVE RF did not ever post there. She had me in ignore, and the thread was about how nice the group of people who sent me all this seed were! She never posted a single sentence there.

    Hi Richard

Something similar happened to me when using a stockmarket forum (for which I paid the princely sum of A$11,000 to become a member of), yep that's right folks, 11K.....

Because it was run by a private company, they decided to remove threads which were offensive, off-topic et al, or in any way derogatory to the company, and also open the forum to the public for FREE, so consequently a large number of members, including me, left. I never received any refund, nor any thanks from the company for 5 years worth of assisting the many many wet-behind-the-ears daytraders, that I assisted for free.

The lesson I learned is that once you post something on a forum (unless its your OWN forum, that you, yourself, set up), it is no longer your property, but rather the property of the administrator (company or whatever), and they can do what they like with it....for most forums you agree to this when clicking on the blurb"I accept" button.

I'm afraid its one of the negative aspects of the internet...and unless the law is changed, its here to stay. I don't think what happened on this forum is any different to any other.

Here is the blurb accompanying the rules of acceptance of this particular forum - we have all agreed to these rules.

"While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. No, don't think that was it, Murray.
Most recent example, answered re: mangoes with my experience and link. Saw it there on the screen as a submitted reply. Next day, went back to read what others posted and I wasn't there in the mango thread. I had to look up the link again and post something similar.
Never mind, will let you know if it happens again. Ditto the PMs.
