But it seems that restaraunt owners, marketeers have some animosity toward farmers? I have just entered the surplus phase and noticed friendly restauranteers and potential customers now seem to be protecting the exploitation of farmers. What I mean by exploitation is the very low prices, the accomodating system (farmer has to process, clean, transport, separate, bag, and so on....). Farmers are desperate to sell off their harvest. Rest. owners enjoy and depend on this dysfunctional relationship? A local vegetarian rest. reluctant to buy simple, everyday ingredients from organic sources bc the prices are so low and convenience so high with pesticide lemon grass, chili, etc...The rest/market owners want organic products that are really holes in the standard market and not because of the standards. This is new to me, probably old news to many of you. Very interested in your opinion about this... Cheers
no, you are not crazy, at least in the way i see it. instead you are what Bill M said, you are subversive. what i mean by this is that the current system is based upon an entire weaved web of exploitation and abuse of the web of life. think of what happens when you produce something that is cheaper (less inputs, sustainable, increases diversity, kills less animals or ruins less land) or even actually works to heal an area and restore productivity? it rips an economy based upon profits (and taxes) apart. along with it that removes the feedstock for much corruption. someone wanted to buy strawberries from me. that is what he understood. i said no, i give them to you. he was and still is disturbed by that action. i am not doing this as a business, i am doing it as a revolution. give back, restore, rework, help, increase diversity, be subversive as much as you can. this world needs radical healers and people who fight against poisoners. every little bit is important, whatever you can do...
Thanks so much, Songbird. I needed to read this and be reminded. When price came into my discussions with owners I said something like, we can decide on any price we want and I saw a reaction of more than just surprise. I am asking for a good relationship, a sustainable system, etc...and price is just 1 aspect (8 forms....)......I realize now price is a weapon they use, a power. For me to dethrone price is subversive!
i'll be interested to hear how it goes. i hope you find some good people to work with who will appreciate your efforts and produce.
PRI just posted some videos from Ridgedale and Richard Perkins. He is sharing just what I need to learn now. 1 video and already can see where need to make changes. Thank you, Richard... E
