Great opportunity with amazing potential in Ojochal, Costa Rica.....I've located a small, 2.5 acre site with the aspiration of turning this into a small permaculture site / Intentional Community / Educational Center. The main infrastructure already exists, but could use updating; there is a main house with 1-2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and a bar-restaurant. There are 4 casitas with baths and a bodega on the property. There are already hundreds of mature, producing fruit trees and lush jungle landscaping with a beautiful river on site. The area lends itself to the creation of an organic restaurant with food grown on site. There are two treetop platforms calling out for yoga classes. All that's missing is creativity, enthusiasm and a little investment capital. More photos to follow.Let's talk if you think this sounds interesting.
Hi Tita We're looking for something like this, but the location is no good for us. We don't want to be car dependent. Are you open to other options? Cheers Rowan
Hi Rowan, Yes, I am open to other options, but I don't know how to get around the need for a vehicle. My thought was kind of a "vehicle sharing" concept. Where maybe we have one vehicle for everyone's use, or in general the Center's use. Ojochal is in a small town, which is growing yearly. The entire southern area is growing. There aren't many places you can be in Costa Rica and not have a vehicle if you are doing permaculture work. There are trips to the saw mill to purchase lumber for building (wood is a sustainable building material in this area of CR), bulk supplies, etc. Ojochal is served by bus transport, and you can get to anywhere from there. What areas are you interested in? Thanks, Tita
Hello Tita, are you still looking at that place? i'll check on g earth, but how far is the place from the ocean? Your ideas seem to the point....this could be a fun, viable project....hope it will work out for you
I've Given up :-( Hi Jehan, Nice to hear from you! The property is not far from the beach (Playa Tortuga), but definitely not walking distance. I visited last month, and although it's small, it is beautiful and has a lot of potential. However, it' s not something I can do by myself, and I haven't found anyone else ready to pack it in and move to Ojochal, Costa Rica, so I've pretty much given up on the idea. Ciao, Tita
Hola Tita, being further from the ocean is an advantage for me, less salt influence.....could you give me more detailed info via p.m.? like slopes, virgin forest present on land, distance to schools and an idea of price? i visted the whole pacific coast of CR 10 years ago and nearly moved there....Osa peninsula was my goal....but your plan is close enough....loved that part of CR.... Please tell me more about your goals, financial plan, i could have a window in my life allowing this, but i ain't no millionaire DO NOT GIVE UP, your plan is a good one. and with the knowledge available out there, i'm sure we could come up with something very nice, where my kids would be happy to live/come and visit, and we could give a good exemple as well as trying to make a living from the land as we help it keep and improve fertility.... saludos from Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico
Hola Jehan, Sorry it took so long to respond, but I was deciding whether or not to give up on this place. I've pretty much decided to give it up, and I'm now looking in Merida, Mexico. I wasn't able to find anyone else interested in a joint type venture. Tita
Hi Tita, I just happened to see you posting. I am in Merida Mexico. I can help you connect to permaculture communities around here. One in Tulum and the others in Yucatan state. If your interested get in touch. Email ; [email protected]
