large leafed black locust!!! Cowra!!

    did some roaming around the central west NSW last week and i found the above freak !!
    Planted among some other black Locusts Form ok; leaves over twice as big as normal BL
    Any thoughts?????8)

    I got some seeds should have got more
    Who is it that lives in that area that pops by here occasionally!!????
    Could be a good trait!

    Cool discovery! Be interested to hear if the seeds you collected propagate true.

    What might be the advantages (to the tree) of larger leaves??

    That's a cool find! I was just talking to my boyfriend today about wanting to plant black locust but they don't provide much shade. All the ones I've seen around me are very sparse. I'll be interested in hearing how the propagation goes and if it passes down those big leaf traits to it's babies!

    Larger leaves seem like it would loose more water but it has more surface area for photosynthesis. Maybe the water loss is balanced by the shade it creates?
