When I was in the RAAF, I used to work with a James Scott (40ish now) who came from Gove (Nhulunbuy). His father was on the trawlers I believe. He used to make comments that they were so poor they couldn't afford to buy meat but had to live off prawns and lobsters.... It can be a small world. I met my golfing partners mother up near cape york, my mate also met an old school friend who was in the Army on the same trip. cheers derek
the tyranny of disance Derekh, I can believe that. Beef here currently retails for between $16 for mince up to $38 for scotch fillet. Fish is a lot cheaper, fresher and even better for you. Anecdotally, you can swap a slab of beer for around $30 for a slab or 10-15kg of fish. we are 400kms from the nearest cattle property. The lobsters you have to dive for [2-3m] of water.. painted crays.. cheers mj
