Well actually I can't claim any credit for it but....

When I went to open up the duck house early this morning I was thrilled to see all these little fluffy furballs sitting under their mothers wings!

Not sure how many have hatched as yet (they were sitting on about 30 eggs), but there's at least six so far!

    Life is amazing.

    :)

What sort of ducks? I have Khaki Campbells and discovered they are terrible mothers. If they ever do manage to hatch any eggs they are bound to have lost all their ducklings within a day unless I keep them all shut up. Good luck

Hi Penny, they are muscovies. I have two females sitting. They both laid their eggs in both nests....and over the last few weeks kept changing which nest they sat on. I checked on them tonight and all ducklings are being looked after by the one duck. I just hope they do survive!

Hi Penny funny you should mention bout bad K/c mothers....

The fact they raised any to hatch is rare if the books are true.....They are excellent hatchers, and mothers.....So called experts said they were hopless...
    ..

I found with them because of small size they need to be kept apart if part of a large flock or with others.....They grow much quicker then chooks ever do.
they lay as many ggs as a great hen....

Muscovy are a great meat bird that grows very fast also......great mothers

Our muscovies are great birds! They take good care of their babies, too.

    Happy Fathers Day (late), Corny!
