Just bought 10 acres down at Milang SA. It could be described as a clean slate, read BARE looking forward to doing stuff with it
Yes South Australia Plans - starting with a vegie garden and an orchard. Paddock area for horse and sheep that I really want to use fodder trees in because Milang is very dry
Greetings Dreuky, So does "bare" mean without buildings too? Will your paddock area have some roofing for shade that can double as water collection surfaces?
No buildings. We will be building sometime in the new year. All depends on council so I'm not holding my breathe waiting. When the house and shed go up they will of course have rainwater tanks contented. That's the law in SA, which is a law I totally agree with. In the meantime we do have access to piped water. There is a row of native bushes on two sides of the block so the animals will have some shade but not much so we will be putting up temporary shade but that won't have water collection off of it. Coming into summer I don't expect any rain so we won't be losing anything. Hopefully we will at least have the shed up be winter to collect that rain.
You just have to live in the "driest state in the driest continent in the world" and all sorts of laws conserving water get past. The driest state saying is almost SA's motto. Not actually true as Antarctica is actually drier than Australia but the penguins don't complain about our little inaccuracy
