Hi, I'm Darren Kaety and I live on about 1/4 acre in Ningi. QLD We are looking at ways to be more Self sustainable. about 1/3 of our yard (so far) is put aside for our permaculture stuff.. 5-6 vegi beds .. a chook tractor (for over the beds) and a pen for the ducks plus umpteen pots with various herbs/vegi's in We are currently biding our time, until we can look at moving to 2-5 acres somewhere bush in early 2011 (after i have 2nd spinal surgery), then expand our sustainability options - Darren
G'day Darren. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are setting your place up nicely. Good luck with your back and finding your place. Grahame
thanks Grahame wishin we owned our place (or somewhere) .. renting sorta limits just how much we can do .. but we are doing our bit
I agree with Grahame and welcome. But where is Ningi. I am from queensland but never heard of this place.
Thanks sunburn Ningi is (as I find easy way to refer to it... LOL) that annoying "60 zone" just before you get to Bribie Island (East of Caboolture - Brisbane)
Well .. sad to say ..we have been told the owners want “vacant possession” and are being forced to move out The good news with this is that it allowed us to look further afield and have found 2.5 acres in the Blackall Ranges just north of Brisbane, of which about 1.5-2 acres is a old horse paddock .. which gives me the chance to not only expand my growin ability but we can also have sheep/goats .. and be allowed to have ducks again .. as well as have more chickens etc *yum* SO I should get more active blogging my permaculture activities
