 Thanks for the info Bella, I saw there are several organic farms just north of Townsville around Bluewater...couldn't ckeck the farm gate stalls as our trip T'ville to Cairns at Chrismas was a quick trip with a very full car....so no stopping to buy fruit.. Will look into all you posted as soon as I get there. Cheers Cathy
There's one organic farm that I know of - Bluewater Organics. They sell to the public stuff they grow and stuff they buy in. They're at the markets at Willows too. There are other places to buy organics of course. Keep in touch, Bel
Cathy, I did schooling in Townsville for a couple of years, and lived there for a while (Still have a brother and his family there). There is a lovely feel about the place, and all the redvelopment of the forshore on teh strand has made for some great free public spaces, but my favourite place is the Botanic Gardens and Paluma up in the rainforest! Its moved on from the old dry dustbowl hictown it used to be! And the things my bother grows in his garden (fruit and veg) just makes your mouth water...he does a great mango salad with a thai basil dressing....YUMMY
The plantings around T'ville have changed it to a more tropical appearance....still dry on the edges though. Does your brother take in strangers for luch??? mango salad and thai dressing...ummm....will bring a bottle wine to go with it. Cheers Cathy
Lovely to hear someone talk fondly about the place. It's still a city, so it's not for me... But it's handy when we need it. Bel
