The case between Steve Marsh and his neighbour who grew Round-Up Ready Canola which contaminated Mr Marsh's certified organic crop, has begun. It has divided a farming community and yet as this story states, there was a 38% increase in the uptake of GM canola for planting last year in WA with farmers singing its' praises. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-10/landmark-court-case-gm-rights/5241906
i hope there is a precedent set that gives Mr. Marsh a way to get his certification back and a way to cover his expenses and losses during this time.
Finally, this case is being heard! Remember, this happened the year that Western Australia lifted the moratorium on GM seed in WA (thanks to Cullin Barnett). 3 seasons ago. Hopefully he gets his certification back again soon, three years is the norm except for more contaminated sites. Mr Baxter, his neighbour has actually increased his GM canola plantings in latter years, but I would think that he would reconsider swathing the canola, which led to the problems in the first place. Monsanto still recommend 5m 'buffer' zones in their crop management plan... This will be as much a trial for the WA government, the defence will be calling for organic standards to allow a % of environmental 'contamination'. Which is bullshit and obviously Redman hasnt read their charter. The gov't were supposed to make known where GM canola is being planted. On being questioned in Parliment time, Nov 2013, Minister for Agriculture answered "(6-9) DAFWA does not have this information and suggests the Hon. Member contacts Monsanto or Cooperative Bulk Handling (CBH)." WTF
Its going to be a tough fight. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/jan/03/wikileaks-us-eu-gm-crops
