Most of his concepts are great!! 'A science based design system'!!!! wonder what happened to the venus project!!
the project still looks to be there. i had many reactions to his drawings, buildings, cities. i'm not sure how to write them all down, but i think the most of it was reflected in his lack of understanding of soil science or ecology. one example being his idea of having a city in the ocean with a hydroponics system for growing food in the middle, a greenhouse. um, that's about as industrial form of agriculture as you can ever devise and fairly cut off from the natural processes of soil creatures and geological soil formation. it reflects his idea that everything can be known and managed by computers and sensors when it is pretty clear by now that we do not have that capability, there is too much to be known or measured, that life itself will regulate itself just fine without all that fiddling if you treat it properly. so overall my reaction was, "More of the same in different clothes." good stuff to think about and be challenged by.
I liked what he said about how engineers answer questions!! With calculated responses!!! Sure he was enthusiastic ! that isnt altogether bad!
