Hi Everyone, We recently purchased 40 acres in Southern BC and eager as I was to get some trees established, I went against the first principle of permaculture of observing the land for a year first. Anyhow the snow recently cleared and I have an assortment of hardy fruit and nut trees arriving next week. The land has two very different soil types. I can choose between mainly silt, with a little clay, topped with a few inches of topsoil or heavier clay topped with around a foot of super dark, rich, loamy topsoil. I am going to add amendments either way, mulch and plant cover crops. I am just wondering whether the trees in general would prefer the high filtration silt mix or the low filtration clay? I have ordered peach, apricot, apple, pear, plum, mulberry, walnut, pecan and hazelnut. Thank you so much!!!!
