I haven't had much luck with scarlet runners as far as using the green beans. We tried drying them (yuk) and freezing them (yuk). Has anyone tried bottling green beans? Do you need to add salt? And do they taste great or just ok? I've found that the best use of excess beans is to let them mature and put the dried seeds into a big jar and sit it somewhere so you can appreciate how beautiful the seeds are. They do go well in soups/ curries etc. I would like to still have some good tasting green beans though. Any thoughts?

We par-boil them, then freeze them, and they are really good - not mushy, just like fresh beans. Boil them though - not microwave them.
