We started planting a 13,000 sqft food forest about a year ago. Most of the following plants are now established: Harvest Calendar: winter: mandarin, orange, kumquat, prickly pear fruit, lemon, loquat, limequat spring: orange, loquat, mulberry, blueberry, peach, blackberry, apple, fig, pear, pomegranate, plum, daylilly summer: blackberry, apple, pomegranate, peach, pineapple guava, jujube, prickly pear, fig, grape, persimmon, pawpaw, chestnut, mandarin melonberry, elderberry, goumi berry, daylilly, borage, hyssop, saffron crocus, passion fruit fall: mandarin, pomegranate, pineapple guava, jujube, fig, persimmon, pawpaw, sunchoke, orange, prickly pear, lemon, borage, kiwifruit, limequat year-round: sweet marjoram, oregano, thyme, rosemary, mint, bee balm, winter savory, horseradish, leek, lemon grass, purslane, chives, sage, walking onion, bay laurel, saw palmetto, chamomile This year, we hope to get a lot more growth of ground cover and fill-in with more of the smaller plants. There are several types of native clovers beginning to volunteer. It's a challenge to get enough fertility to many of our fruit trees. It's also tough to get enough water to the trees most of the year, summer being the exception.
