millet seed is available via Kialla pure foods, at most organic food stores in Brisbane. You want whole millet seeds to plant I presume

    Re: finger millet seeds

Thanks Mick for fotos. The millet here is the same as the millet heads in a few round bales of millet i picked up this year. the farmer who supplied the millet straw tells me that it is French White Millet. He thinks it originated out of Turkey via the French, but they were in Africa once. He also said that FWM was an old variety that has been unaltered for centuries. Pretty sure that this is your finger millet. Kialla Pure Foods simply sell millet. The colour changes from white to yellow or red depending on supply. Ask for White Millet and I am sure you will have your seed. They should sell whole seed in 1kg bags.

I have found the first "non introduced earthworm" under the mulch of millet. Millet is renowned for being "easy" on farming country. Where as sorghum is "hard" on farning country as it needs more nitrogen.

    seed savers

i got some from seed savers years ago and grew them out
    large yields
sent from a guy last name Mazzer? near grafton

unfortunately i lost my seed - but try them
i went to an open day in byron and they were giving away seed, this was one of them
its meant to have a very long viability so the same batch should be good

its got a long season. grows a dense tussock with lots of leaf
you could cut it for forage im sure and still get a grain crop

then late in autumn it heads up and its loaded
i think itd do better now im in the drier tropics rather than Northern NSW wher the later wet season interfered with the dry down phase

write to seed savers with a donation
if you do get extra seed id always appreciate a second chance!
