    The course consists of 72 hour, two week course in sustainable living systems design for all climates and landscapes. The PRI’s Permaculture Design Certificate is renowned for producing ecological activists with design skills, and connects students to a global network of Permaculture contacts and projects.

    Attaining a PDC is the foundation for further learning in this field, and is a pre-requisite to obtaining a Diploma in Permaculture Design, which requires two years of practical application of Permaculture in a range of disciplines.

    Pricing and accomodation

    There are many pricing options for taking the course at Ranquilco, depending on the quality of the room desired. All of the below options include full course participation and full board - all prices in US dollars;

    - $1,750 - There are four first class suites available, each with private bath, fireplace, sitting room, and balcony or tower overlooking the river. If two people would like to share a suite, the price drops to $1,250 each.

    - $1,250 - There are many rooms which have two beds and a bath, some with fireplaces. Price is per person on a double occupancy basis. If single occupancy is desired, the price is $1,500.

    - $1,000 - There are some rustic cabins, with no indoor plumbing - outdoor outhouse and shower.

    - $750 - This is the camping option. There are many delightful camping spots scattered around the shelf. Outdoor showers are available and outhouse.

    Partipants are invited to consider the option of staying on at Ranquilco and joining the community for some extra time. Equestrian lessons, fly fishing lessons, as well as immersion in a Spanish speaking culture are available. Fly fishing in the fabled Trocoman River and Horse trekking trips to the High Andes are also offered for an additional price.
