I have just found this great site - check it out! One of the organisations you can support is Permaculture International.

    https://permaworld.org/members/lblanch/index.shtml

Permaworld is an organization of Associate Members and Customers in over 145 countries worldwide who support a belief in a sustainable future based on co-operating with nature and caring for the earth and its people. Permaworld's mission is to help provide funds for Earth Care organizations AND at the same time, help develop a long term income for associate members assisting in providing money to these organizations by their sale of our innovative products.

I looked at it, and it looks like a pyramid scheme. I am not sure, so don't want to make a definitive statement, but it seems you make money by signing other people on, who, in turn, make money by signing more people on. This is a classic pyramid scheme, with a twist: A percentage goes to one of a list of reputable organizations.

I found them while looking for web hosting for our project. I went with another hosting service, but got email for months afterwards telling me that I was about to make lots of money if I would sign on as a member of a 2x2 matrix, etc.. I never pursued it, and, truth be known, because of the worthy organizations that benefit, I tried not to think about whether or not it was a scam.

    this from their site:

    >>>Join Permaworld and upgrade to an Associate Member with one of our hosting/software packages. You'll not only earn ALL commissions from the Affiliate Commission Plan but you'll also earn commissions from a 5 level fixed width (forced matrix) commission plan. You can benefit from 'spillover' commissions and develop solid long term residual earnings.

Affiliate Commission Plan - CLICK HERE

Commission plan that is easy to understand
    Commissions paid weekly
Fair and balanced and geared to reward all levels of participation
Strong front-end for new or part time
NO cap on your income earning potential. Solid long-term income

Permaworld donates up to 50% of the revenue from product sales to support earth care projects and environmental organizations

I just looked at the webste and saw more about the hosting, which looks like a legitimate service, and competetive with other web hosting/domain services. Not sure about the rest of it, though.

If we hadn't ended up with a good service for our projects email account, I would definitely consider this, though the other "5 level bandwidth matrix earning.. etc" is very vague.

I would love to hear more from anyone with actual experience with this.

    Hi Tezza,

I thought it was a hack job mate! Where is the reply from Geoff or Nadia, and who is lianne blanch that signed off on the post? I maybe a bit sceptical, but I've had a fair few people trying to rip me off of late.....the plumber  , the mechanic  , the guy who read my palm last Sunday..(I did catch him on that one though, and have a pretty good story to tell! So crafty!) .....

I'm impressed that so many did look at the post! I've visited other forums, and they've been pretty dull (and not very busy..ie last post 2 months ago!) ......perhaps a compliment that we did get hacked 8) for marketing measures,

....but so many are interested, doesn't that mean that beginning one's own venture might have merit? ... to outlandish perhaps  like most others, buggered if I have time :?

See ya Tezza, have enjoyed reading you're posts

The large number of views is quite interesting. I suspect it is due to the title and people jumping in from google searches - trying to find out how they can make money from home/on the web.

I expect that if the russian porn messages that pop up here now and again were left on, they too would have that many hits.....

I personally steer clear of this type of scheme, but of course some people have made good sums from these types of pyramid schemes in the past. Unfortunatelly it is the people at the bottom of the pyramid that get burnt. If someone in this type of scheme is telling you how great it is, chances are it's because they are going to benefit from you joining.

A bit off topic - but one thing that I think is great about this site is that people are willing to share their experience freely and for free. I know that we all need money to live and all, but it's a shame that more and more often people feel that they need to make a quid for passing on information that they have learnt themselves from others - and no doubt added to with their own smarts and trial and error.

If our objective is for other people to share or gain our interest in these topics, and save the world la la la, then we should be making sure we freely pass on everything we know and love.

I looked a bit further into this today after seeing activity on this post, and it looks even more like a pyramid scheme. Any doubt I harbored earlier is gone. The chart on this shows the pyramid: https://permaworld.org/members/permaworl ... ciate.html

I am sure that there are some involved right now who do not understand the nature of the game, who are making good money from the project, but eventually the bottom has to drop out, and the late comers will be the ones who have not made any money, while the early members will have made a fortune, especially the promoters.

These things play on peoples desires to make money without effort, and, with this one, make it attractive because, hey, not only are you going to make money without effort, a percentage of the profits are going to go to great organizations. And the organizations that benefit ARE great, but as someone in a small organization (but hopefully one day great, too), if someone offered to cut us a check for USD5000 for our valuable work, I would probably take it, which would allow them to use our name to put on a further patina of truth.

They also have a forum, which reads like a "gee whiz, I sure am glad I am making so much money! I just need another 625 people to join to get to the 4th level, where I really make more money!" Most of the forums focus on money making and not on permaculture. (IMO, this forum we are all on is the nicest, greatest, bestest forum I have ever seen, lots of useful info and nice people, and I like my extended electronic community very much)

There are also lots of plugs in the forums section by administrators who bubble effusively about how internet business has changed their lives. One I just looked at that smelled strongly of, uh, bad cheese, even has a copyright sign on it, so rather than copy and paste that piece of cheese into this forum, potentially opening up this forum and myslf to copyright issues, I will simply paste the url here, and you can all go in there and take your time to smell the cheese for yourselves: https://forum.permaworld.com/showthread.php?t=1416

It is a shame that permaculture has been used to promote this type of activity, but once you strip away the nice graphics, the good words strung together, the feel good permie rhetoric, the earth caring warmness, it is a pyramid scheme. Period.

Read this, especially the item one on the second post, which is very seductive, especially for lonely people: https://forum.permaworld.com/showthread. ... 2#post4612

I would love to hear someone from this group try to explain how they are not, actually, a pyramid scheme. I am not surprized noone has called them on this because we would all like to believe it is a good thing, and the organizations that supposedly benefit are all great, reputable organizations.

Anyone know anyone who can defend this group, just to make this forum throw sparks  ? They also appear to be registed in Australia, Malaysia, Italy, England and the US, so shutting them down by law enforcement would be extremely difficult as if you shut one door, they still have four others open  Twicky, twicky, twicky, very, very twicky... They appear to be well organized, and obviously, sitting on the peak of this pyramid of cheese, well funded!

So far this post is a bit short of 3000 views, and I can't help but wonder if any of those people were taken in by the slick feel good promise of easy money, while helping the environment.

A WORD TO ALL THOSE CONSIDERING THIS SCHEME, IT IS ILLEGAL IN MOST COUNTRIES.

A good discussion of permie pyramids: https://lists.ibiblio.org/pipermail/permaculture/2002-July/015344.html that talks about Permaworld.

These have been done before. "Personal Transformation Marketing Seminars" with Yogi-So-and-so, with very good reasons to invest, spouting slogans about "community building" and "economic enhancement", and lots of "benefits" to the participants and the larger world, but, like Permaworld, (and just like Permaworld,) once you scrape off the Yoga tantric-economic-enrichment-through-swami-Cashanandas-Pranayana-meditation-cash-vortex or the permacare-5x5-matrix-earth-repair-funding, etc, it boils down to a scam, a confidence game, a money thieving hand over fist, first come first served and everyone else gets left holding, er, an empty bag, PYRAMID SCHEME!

The part that makes them look like they are not a scam is their web hosting, which may be a legitimate business, and the percentage that supposedly goes to worthy organizations, but that is just the icing on the cheese.

In other forums, people seem to get nasty with one another, and I have seen none of that here. Everyone here is so nice! However... anyone who would like to indulge their lesser parts, tap into their rigteous anger and resentment at the hijacking and prostitution of the name Permaculture, and that these people are specifically targeting the permaculture world, can say anything nasty about Permaworld, because it is a scam. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, S-C-A-M! Naneee-nannneeeee BOO-BOOOO! SCAM! SCAM, SCAM, SCAM![/url]

Ill stick my neck out here ok...Im not scared of doubters i have complete faith in Permaculture, have for 15 yrs
As ive said before, i got into Pertmaculture in 88. well yes i fell in love with the concepts, visions, and ideas i was hooked.....^ months later, some guy was showing me a idea and being open minded i listened with my mouth shut and ears open unlike when i was younger lolol.after surviving 36 yrs then i thought i was able enough to sort my own mind out now not someone elses say so ,...am still like this right now...I studied multi leval marketing pretty dam closely, and found that its a great scheme and can, and does work. It did for me a bit lol. Then one day i was ordering all these goods and products and Thought OMG what am i doing this is totally against my new beleives, ie Permaculture and decided then to stop this scheme dead..As id arranged to go out that nite i still went and heard a speaker mention that wanting money isnt a bad thing ,,we all need something to pay the bills dont we. Ive tried Monopoly money they dont accept it anywhere!!!! this person was also a person with a consious, and he didnt like the consumer like system either, untill he chatted with his accountant who mentioned the advantages of being a buisneess, Tax advantages etc etc etc. that only a buiness can get, not the poor hard working persons system. This got me interested as id allways ended up paying the taxman those days.I found that instead of paying the taxman i could support my local organisations eg schools, kindy, my kids sporting clubs anything i could think off, I even evisioned donating millions to the greens and Permaculture projects ..I was buzzing again, i was set to change the world as i new it...Unfortunatly id put so many freinds, mates etc off by selling stuf,f and the fact that governments n media lies, re M.L.M schemes Pyramid ,golden airoplane, being scams etc. where all various money making ventures were bunched together as bad news. I needed another job, but it would be a clean job, a safe job, with out the hazzards of modern industrial giants, that i was currently employed in.
I also realised that as a Commited new Permie that this would have to be worked out to satisfy my needs(money) and Values(permie dominated).
I couldnt do it ,I was sad n broke again still, but my consious was clean!!
I was stuck in my crappy un permie job, in my crappy un permie capitilist system. With a wife n 2 kids to support Ive spent the last 16 years since then trying to Find a system that doesnt play on my consious .it had to be Permie freindly .People freindly.earn an income too maybe....
Unfortunatly these things, money, and non consumerable, non toxic, non polluting, waste causing,Not displace people from jobs and benifit Humankind.. were a bit hard to find or do. Now thats quite a list to want/need happen, it took a few years of head banging to find something. Up to date I have found a few worthwile schemes and although im not totally up to spec on this scheme or all it involves. ..I have presented my offer of simuler schemes to various Permie People over years and have politly been told that the consumerables are a permies stumbling blocks ..We dont like purchasing from some one else,Basicly in a nut shell. We dont like it,
Ive even posted One off to This board 2 years ag without a reply..So im sceptical from the start, seeing as i never got a reply from geoff either.
Incidently this was a sheme selling phone cards.notice no huge consumerables to sell, nothing to sell, just charge your mobile phone and go for it.Beleive me this is better then trying to sell toothpaste or fuel pills
or washing powder....Maybe Geoff dont like mobile phones because of all the bad publicity etc. Still thought he might of answered to say no thanks at least.."still waiting geoff"....So was surprised to say the least when I first saw his posting ..The Way i see it. After 16 years of looking is its not the product, its not the suits, its not the salemanship either.. Its us dumb humans who are so hoodwinked into thinking that these schemes, are corrupted by greed etc etc etc or shonky pyramid schemes....Well ask any accountant worth his salt, not some one whos good at adding up. but an open minded accountant ,are there any anywhere?. The government and buisnesses laugh at us dumb humans for beleiving this story about it being a scam etc.Because we beleive EVERYTHING these same people say everyday, when they tell us petrols up again, dont worry, interest rates are going up again. dont worry, milk is up ,bread is up. not too mention the other BULLS&&& about the terrorists, the weapons of mass destruction, the threat of more terrorism,do i need to go on .....
Get READY nows the last bits from me .....
    .
Life is ONE BIG PYRAMID with pharoes bush ,blair and little johnny being modern day Ram arses(sic) thank god they havent told us growing fruit n veges is a waste of time because id be talking to my self on this web site lololol....

Of course be wary ,very wary but comemon now.Where does the truth start and end ...They say the truth is out there .maybe the others who dont type on this subject are the ones who are laughing at those who degenerate this idea and concept ..someones typed wheres Bll to answer our question, would you belive in him if he said it was ok.How many of you who decry Geoffs post have ever met Bill, or talked to him ,or listened to him I Have. Id elect him Aussie of year every year And rather have his dog then Howard as pm. i could trust his dog but i dont think he owns one. maybe hes got a frog or a worm i could vote for, instead of howard, replace a worm with a non lying worm.

So COME ON geoff Or Bill answer our bloody questions then we can all get our lives going again

    Yours respectfully
    Tezza

Dont forget to ask your local accountant about the howard, bush, blair, pyramid......
Those who seek the truth will allways find it

you do all realize that this topic was originally posted in november 2002 by geoff right?

maybe i should just lock this topic from further commenting as it's obvious that there's no more to be gained from talking about permaworld or whoever they are..

    we all OK with that?

    Tezza,

Anyone who thinks money is evil should do all they can to save themselves the hassle of having that eveil substance by sending it all to me now! Money is a tool, and I could use more of it.

I am not decrying anyones post. Geoff posted this three years ago, and I am sure was not familiar with these types of scams then. If I hadn't seen a very similar pyramid scheme built around yoga in the 1980's, where friends of mine lost thousands of dollars, in fact, got their friends to lose thousands of dollars, a few people made a lot of money and disappeared, and a few people went to jail, I wouldn't have been able to see this for what it is.

I understand that alternate financial services are good things, and I think that multi leval marketing has done a lot for a lot of people, both the sellers AND the buyers. They have good products that people want, and everyone benefits on the transaction. Someone needs cell phones, for example. But Permaworld is NOT a MLM, they are thieves, pure and simple. Thieves with a nice permie rap, nice permie graphics, and a list of nice permie organizationa who have supposedly benefitted from them.

That doesn't change that this is just a scam, with permaculture as window dressing. You can dress a wolf in sheeps clothing, but they are not sheep, they are still wolves.

Don't be fooled, and don't take a chance. Someone in this scheme has to end up losing.

    Christopher
