All of which means nothing to about 80% of the politicians because they most likely hold a view they cannot be swayed from. Also, most of the folks with power are the rich ones who think the economy is the most important thing. Which means it matters for squat what the common people want or think. As a matter of interest I live in the 2nd most right leaning Victorian seat. Which makes we wonder am I better off with a protest vote or a vote for the greens. Which would send a better message that I am totally at odds with the major parties?
Hard to say. What I do think though, is your mob are 'leading the way' by developing Green Temple, probably says more to 'the locals' than a mark on a ballot paper ever could.
Personally I don't like the Liberal Party or the Labour Party. I will vote to try to ensure that neither of these parties has too large a majority so I will vote labour this time. It opinion polls where leaning towards Labour I would vote Liberal. Not that one vote will make any difference. I don't like the influence that the Murdock press seems to have though, through most of the major news papers and TV news he seems to control public opinion.
Came in this afternoon and there was a message on the phone from KRudd urging us to vote this and that , wondering how many got the same recording and how many $$$ was spent on this desperate madness
The landline has been ringing every couple of hours for the last couple of days. Needless to say, we have ignored it.
Wait, how the hell is the US getting the blame for Rupert Murdoch? As far as I remember, he's originally Australian(got kicked out), went to England(got kicked out) and ended up in the US(he's rich, so he won't get kicked out)...that's not fair!
I got polled 4 times this election One was obviously slightly push polling (subtle enough to be legal) She asked I said Greens She then asked for preferences and if I would change my vote I said no she then said age ? education I assume uni educated ? lol
Umutual - if the USA was clever they'd kick him out and he'd be in the Equadorian embassy with Julian Assange eying off the pet guinea pig and wondering if it would go with a nice red.... Grasshopper I had two calls from ext poll people this afternoon and hung up on them both. I figure that the reason that the greens polled low was that all Green voters were like me and did the same. But I stand corrected!
It appears Bandt (Greens) is going to (miraculously, considering both of the majors preferenced each other) hold on to Melbourne, with a whopping 10% swing toward him in the primary vote (about 45% of total) at about 10% of the vote counted. Seems like Melbourne really is the 'greenest' city on Earth. The rest of the Lower House can go and get [email protected]#$ed as far as I'm concerned! I'm going to open another bottle (number 3), and at the same time I can't help but wonder how Jo and Beth are going in the Senate...
