Anyone has a devils fig for sale ?Wish to experiment with grafting tomato & eggplant to it . Anyone did this with another rootstock? Regards ,Bela Beke
Re: devils fig I've seen in ausgarden.com (now dead) that ordinary egg plant and a small red eggplant were used as was a type of wild tobacco I'm not sure of the results. will google cache find anything as specifica as that?? some of the people who did some experimenting were (I think) ray and Mcsee - I believe both are now on ozgrow.com might be worthwhile dropping them a line - and if there is a yes it works - post back here
Re: devils fig Thank you paradisi, -I heard about these before ,seen a link posted on the Permablitz page https://www.italymag.co.uk/italy/sicily/ ... plant-tree That is why im specificaly looking for a devis fig. Bela
Re: devils fig Is it possible that it could be know here as something different. I have a thorny bush which is growing that I plan to graft onto which was given to me from the guys mentioned from ozgrow but it is what is known as a cockroach berry (think that's it) I plan to use that to make an eggplant tree.
Re: devils fig Gardenaholic- have seen devils fig mentioned on a commercial fruit nursery page. They used it to graft other veek plants on to it.Devils fig-Solanum Hispidium. https://wilsonscreeklandcare.mullum.com. ... s_fig.html Cockroach berry Solanum Capsicioides https://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=SOHI9 Having not had any experience with these plants i would like to try and replicate what others have done.Perhaps some one with experience will set us right. There is a nursery in Melbourne selling grafted eggplant's(Munro st. nursery in Coburg-Vasily's garden's -nursery ) -i think they use devils fig .Will check it out. Here is another link. This actually mentions using the cokroach berry as a rootstoc for grafting- https://www.greenfingers.com.au/services ... udding.htm
