    wow ara,

Thanks for posting that, I had a mental imagine of [probably a dorper] a fat tailed thing.

The other pic shows a beautiful model damara whereas the this one is of a group of yobbo damaras. You get the same differences in all species I guess. lol

    damara pics

the first pic is of a classic damara probably in a desert situation who knows how old the mother is she has shed her winter coat and looks sleek and beautiful however when she is shedding the winter coat she would probably look like a rasta. the second pic to me looks like adolesant boys still with winter coat in tact usually the first coat is the heaviest and as they get older they coat tends to get lighter and lighter sometimes within two years I would post a pic of my rams only this faciltiy does not allow it if you want me send you a pic of my beautiful boys send me an email.

    Jo & Lex,

I did google up some damara photos and did see what I had expected. The first photo certainly is a model.

Interestingly, I asked an employee of mine who lived in the Congo for many years about sheep and he said those 'fat-tailed' things are all over Africa and would certainly handle the Northern Territory tropical zones.

They must be bullet-proof and adaptable.

Hope I am not repeating myself but recently in the South Island of NZ I saw a number of merino flocks. Merinos in NZ are used at altitudes and in conditions that the traditional english sheep cannot handle. The sheep were exactly the same as you would find anywhere in australia's hot areas.

What are they like on fences. Can they be adequately restrained by electric fencing? ANy other information: either positive or negative?
I know we can google this info, but I prefer to get it from someone involved with the breed.
