    As you see, most of them are ending here in Germany. What advantage would we have? If we do not want the Russian gas, we can simply stop it. And if Putin does not want to give it to us, he can simply stop it.
    He might be interested in stopping the Ukraine form demanding higher carriage dues on his gas exports.
    But as you see as well: The new pipelines across the Black Sea and across the Baltic sea are built right now. The importance of the Ukraine as transit country is dropping.
    I think it is more about a demonstration of power against the US and about the harbors at the Black Sea and Azov Sea.

    I agree. Putin is incredibly cunning and intelligent to boot. I think he has far and away shown he is capable of out-manoeuvring the west and particularly the US.

    Think about how Putin kept still during the olympics, while the west was fomenting the uprising. I would have liked to hear what he told Obama.

    Russia has the resources modern economies need to operate, I think Russia will win the day up until Russia's resource production starts declining.
