    Re: Coffee Cup Art

The problem with this sort of art is most of it will be made with newly purchased cups not dirty used ones, though it may look good to some.
If every person was to take ownership of the rubbish they generate then maybe, finally manufacturers will stop producing the crap. Whats wrong with washing glasses after a party? nature can cope with small amounts of man made rubbish, its when it becomes super huge council land fills that problems occur and mother nature throws up her hands and says WHAT THE ----. Even the worst of man made rubbish started as a natural base material
I can proudly state that I have not been to a tip for a deposit nor put out a rubbish bin in almost 20 years, yet there has never been piles of rubbish on any of my properties, through experiance I now only generate very minimal amounts.

    Hi milfestyle

Just read the whole link - the keg cost more than the cups? the thing was made for a architec display maybe they were used, but they were also bought for the task and still probably ended up in landfill within a week. I dont mind garbage being used as a medium for art, but in this case they produced garbage (by way of party) exclusively to use for their art, there is a difference.

Yeah, i'm not agreeing with their use (although they do make good plant pots)... but at least it was an attempt, hopeflly, to display how much plastic is used at events like that.

There is a substantial amount of strength in them cups when stacked up...

Wasn't there a company making portable hothouses with plastic cups... or was that bottles ?

Plastic bottles need a thread of their own, ever wondered how much water/liquid is locked away from nature when people throw them away with their lids still on. just look on the ground after any large outdoor event.

    Interesting thought
Also the amount of Energy locked in them

Didn't a Yank school kid just breed a plastic eating bacteria?
At least something might get afeed from them?!

It is surprising that no one has followed the Shire's (Highland's ) lead in banning plastic water bottles

What is happening re. the 10c deposit?

Perhaps you are right a plastic thread would be good. --start one if you want. It is a free (almost :) ) Forum
