bush fires are a fact of life in the bushscape of australia long before this climate change thingy came along. in southern states people have this want "give me a home among the gum trees!", then build in wood and that is where the tragidy comes in, and the tree hugger brigade won't let them cut the trees down to make houses safer. here in qld we don't get those type of fires proably due to higher humidity why many down south find it too uncomfrotable to live up here. funny how now all things that are normal are "because of this lunacy climate change" len
G'day Len "...here in qld we don't get those type of fires" You might like to take a look at the historical record: 1910-2010 Timeline: QLD Bushfires "...proably [sic] due to higher humidity" In all likelihood, that's about to change: It is likely that higher temperatures and changing patterns of wind and rainfall will change the patterns and frequency of extreme fire weather... Source: Australian Academy of Science (2010) The Science of Climate Change: Questions and Answers, p. 14. It's an easy read, Len (only 24 pages). I challenge anyone to read it and still believe that if we wish hard enough, it will all go away. Cheerio, Markos.
The Hysteria of Climate Change... Heh, have a look at the hysteria merchants (not all are though) involved in the AAS book of climate furphys... " Last week brought the latest shocking news about global warming’s horrific effects: Researchers have found that because of a rise in temperature, caused by an increase in greenhouse gas emissions by humans, the common brown butterfly now emerges from its cocoon 10 days earlier than it did 65 years ago. Alarmist Professor David Karoly seized on the study as proof of man-made global warming: This new work has tied the earlier emergence of butterflies directly to a regional temperature increase, and has tied the temperature increase very strongly to increases in greenhouse gas concentrations caused by humans... Two things are strange about this claim of early-emerging butterflies. First, it relies entirely on modelling the effects on butterflies, using old temperature records, rather than on a history of direct observation. Second, it relies on...." cont... https://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun...sphalt_and_industry_have_made_laverton_warmer While at the Bolt blog, do a search for "David Karoly" the IPCC hysteria merchant. ---------------------------------- “ The working scientist knows all too well how the chips are stacked in the unending fight to maximise the number of his papers that can be cited with his next application for promotion. He knows that the overwhelming balance of reviewers will be on the side of the angels - in the present context on the main conclusions of the IPCC - so will be very reluctant to draw conclusions which are at variance with the common view...” Quote via the book, “The Climate Caper” by Garth Paltridge. Interesting how some climate shrills are trying to link the recent large Russian fires to AGW. It has happened before... Some comments on the Victorian fires via Business Spectator - “ By the end of the weekend (after the fires) there had been 535 articles in Australia media asserting in one form or another that Victoria’s tragic bushfires were “caused” by global warming. This form of local fear mongering is despicable at the best of times – in the context of the Victorian fire deaths, it is beyond the pale. “ The problem for the climate shrills is there had been a much larger fire in Victoria in 1851. The far more intense and hotter 1851 fire happened just as the world was coming out of a mini ice age. An inconvienient fact. via The Chronicles of Early Melbourne 1888, Pg 415 "It is the opinion of old colonists that during the first fifteen years of the White settlement (1835-50) the winters were wetter and colder, and the summers warmer and more hot-windy than subsequently" .
The Hocky stick graph. The gift that just keeps on giving.... " Commenters on WUWT report that Tamino and Romm are deleting comments even mentioning this paper on their blog comment forum. Their refusal to even acknowledge it tells you it has squarely hit the target, and the fat lady has sung – loudly..." https://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/08...akes-a-hockey-sticky-wicket-of-mann-et-al-99/
