Chook advice Would appreciate some advice from experienced chook keepers - We got our 3 point of lay Isa browns last July. Two are going well, laying regularly, all good but the third just can't seem to get her act together. She lays for a few days, stops for a few days, then she'll drop a couple of unshelled eggs on the ground anywhere. Her eggs can be anything from normal to enormous and often the shells are uneven and bumpy. She is not at all distressed, eats normally and runs around with her sisters. She did go through a broody patch a couple of months ago but got over it with cool baths and being banned from the maternity ward. Her comb is smaller than those of her sisters. They have a big run, plenty of good laying mix, shell grit, water and household scraps - all they could want (except for some male company)! Will she get over it and eventually settle down or should I do anything active about it? Would appreciate any advice thanks Spicegirlsmum
i find chooks are individuals, ours vary in their laying, though they are a variety of breeds.. sorry, can't help with the bumpy eggs...
Isa browns are intensively bred birds fro the intensive cage bird industry sometimes genetivs goes wrong when a million birds are bred and hatched if you arent happy with her eggs and she must be an egg provider =- cook her if not enjoy her antics
