I heard today that Cholesterol is not the bad killer we have all be lead to believe. Apparently it has been a very clever marketing ploy for the past 40 to 50 years. Why would drug companies want to find cures when there is more money to be made scamming people. Looks like one less tablet I need to take and save myself $36 every 28 days.
Apparently, when I read the article about this today, a dedicated Mediterranean diet together with appropriate exercise can often be as effective in lowering cholesterol as a statin drug.
I only heard part of the story on the radio so I must do a Google search tomorrow to read more about it. I don't have high cholesterol but a Doctor I saw when my doctor was away started me on it as a preventative measure. It is for blood pressure too which I didn't and still don't have. I do have Type 2 Diabetes so they tell me. Could this all be a scam to flog more drugs? I pay $36 for each medication they have me on per month. Times that by 12months a year and then by the many thousands of other people in the same boat so why would they want to find a cure. Clever marketing is easier and they get a whole lot richer faster. A cure means no ongoing income for them.
I think it's partly an issue with giving people what they want. Not many people would fill a prescription to eat a green salad 5 times a week and to get essential nutrients partly from a plant-based diet.
in so many ways humanity is just in the baby-step stage of really understanding health, nutrition and the environment. i'd like to sleep for 500 years and come back and see what has happened...
Brian you diabetes will be driving your cholesterol up so you may want to get medical advice before you stop your tabs. A high protein high fat (yup that's what I said) low carbohydrate diet will sort out both quick smart. At each meal ask yourself - where's the protein in this? The drug companies don't want you to learn this, and neither does the food industry that offers you carbs carbs and more carbs.
I don't have high cholesterol or high blood pressure but they give me stuff just in case. Most nights I eat about 5 or 6 different veggies with my dinner. I would eat more but would need a bigger plate lol. I heard years ago that eating animal fat wont increase your fat levels, sugar is the cause of it. I don't drink soft drinks, don't use sugar in coffee. only drink light beer and not that often. There's another thing Low Carb Beer to make you think that it is ok. It too is just another clever marketing ploy. Life is a bitch and then you die
Songbird you just might regret waking up. Could all be a disappointment. I am happy just to live one life and wouldn't want my time over again or come back after I am gone.
Nahhhh. There are things known, and things unknown, and in-between are the doors of perception. -Huxley
Sorry that would mean turning on the TV in the lounge room I rarely turn a tv on. When my wife goes away the tv thinks there is a power blackout. I get all my information off ABC local radio. Must be showing my age lol.
Wow that Presenter is drop dead gorgeous. I am definitely going off those drugs I have been given switching to butter and eating more fat.
