I've been thinking of getting a mulcher to use on our suburban block. I'd use it to mulch up some large privet bushes I recently cut down, other trimmings, sweetcorn stalks, tomato bushes etc Bunnings have small electric units for a bit over $200 that they claim will cope with material up to about 35mm width. Only greenwood (not dried) and no hardwood. Which is fine for our needs. Has anyone any experience of these units? Thanks in advance David
hi david check out this topic from january. it was very helpful to a lot of people. also - it actually starts out just the same as your post: "Thinking of buying a mulcher for the backyard and local neighborhood." ... hehe.. don't forget: search is your friend..
This is probably too pricey for what you in mind, but it's a good product that you can at least compare to what you might want to buy locally. I have 10 year old DR field mower that can take out saplings and weeds that would choke a horse. I live near the ocean, which as you know, eats machinery alive with rust, and with taking care to grease it with marine grease, and oil it, it has never let me down. It's simple to maintain and adjust, and there's easy access to belts, the chain and the blade. It works very hard for me, and has even had some neglect when family emergencies arose for a few years, and it's still hanging in there. link
