    Hi everyone.
I've posted below our first course notice for some PDCs we are planning to deliver later this year. The courses will also benefit Geoff and Nadia Lawton's Jordan project and Gaia Uni's launch in Australia. (See separate post soon).

Summer 2006 Benefit Permaculture Design Course
    Monday November 27 - Saturday December 9

Eco Resources Network of the Aldinga Arts Eco Village in South Australia is delighted to announce two Permaculture Design Courses, to be taught later this year by Geoff and Nadia Lawton of the world famous Permaculture Research Institute in NSW. The PRI is renowned for producing highly active and effective students and teachers.

Permaculture is a holistic approach to land use design, based on ecological principles and patterns. It aims to create stable, productive systems that provide for human needs, harmoniously integrating the land with people. Permaculture principles can be applied to any environment, at any scale - from dense urban settlements to individual homes, from farms to entire regions.

At the Aldinga Arts Eco Village permaculture principles have been applied at all stages of the development. The village consists of 142 allotments on around 28 hectares of urban land near the sea in the coastal township of Aldinga and includes a range of planned community facilities, studios and galleries, orchards and common lands.

With over 16 hectares of residential development, approximately 44% has been set aside as community land and common facilities, and over 12 hectares as Village Farm. This farm, currently undeveloped cleared cropping land, is to be a vital part of the community's food resource in the future. The farm and its future will be one of the optional project choices for the practical component of the course.

This 72 hour certificate program is a 13 day, residential design course with a break in the middle and a party at the end.

Price is $AU990 (inc. GST) for tuition and course notes on CD, including your choice of organic vegetarian and conventional meals, and camping or dormitory housing.

There is a $AU100 discount for early registration before May 15, 2006. (Summer PDC before August 15, 2006)

A deposit of only $AU200 will secure your place in the course and your discount if you act quickly (Balance to be paid prior to the course).

    Limited work-trade positions are available.

Training and accommodation will occur at the Aldinga Holiday Village, two kilometers south of the village. It provides comfortable shared accommodation or a quiet camping site (your choice), excellent teaching spaces and a commercial kitchen at a site adjacent to the famous Aldinga scrub and the sea. If you wish you can rent a luxurious yurt ( two double bedrooms) for a small additional fee.

The Fleurieu region with its festivals and producers markets just 52 kilometers from Adelaide, is one of South Australia's most popular tourist areas. Covering an area of 2,873 square kilometers, with a mild Mediterranean climate of cool, wet winters and warm dry summers, the region is acclaimed for its picturesque coastline and hinterland, and its vineyards and beaches. Diverse topography adds to the region's uniqueness.
