I recently published a blog post with a detailed explantation of how I built this 6 bay nest box out of scrap wood. Click the link to read the article. https://www.wholeviewfarm.blogspot.com/2013/01/a-low-cost-easy-to-build-chicken-nest.html Please let me know what you think of the design.
Thanks for posting Joe. Classy nest box. How many chickens do you run for six boxes. We have around ten hens in each dome of the mandala and they share a grass catcher from a lawnmower. We tried to put several in each but the chooks just wait their turn to go in the same one. Our hens love the dark confinment of the grass catcher. I like your sloping roof. Is that to make cleaning easy?
Thanks Purplepear, we have 20 chickens right now. The sloping roof prevents the mess more than making it easy to clean, they can't sit on the steep 45° top. I like your site, very impressive setup. Using the grass catcher is clever, I have never seen that before.
Luxury! When I twere a lass, our chooks, there were 150 layin in a shoe box in t' middle o road.... (sorry PP, couldn't resist). Nice blogpost Wholeview.
