I have a slight obsession with different coloured carrots and I have just been reading at the carrot museum that there is a black carrot variety? From the photos it just looked like a very dark purple but if anyone has some useful info or knows if/where I can get seeds in Australia I would be most grateful! Thankyou
I have read the same thing, but only on bottles of drinks. Let me know what you find out, I am currently exceedingly happy with my Dragon Carrots.
Probably a dark purple carrot? https://www.carrotmuseum.co.uk/blackcarrot.html https://www.greenharvest.com.au/seeds/vegetables_car_to_chi.html#SC277
I have a hybrid variety that I bought before I new what I was doing, these seem to be the ones you occasionally find in supermarkets, called deep purple, and they are very dark but still Definitely purple. In my little bit of research so far, it seems there is an old afghani and a new hybrid variety which are black/purple and available overseas but not Australia as far as I can see.

I found someone on US eBay that says he has sen them to Australia before without a problem so I am giving it a go. Same variety as amazon. Fingers crossed
Always check here first https://www.aqis.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_querycontent.asp ICON is AQIS's import conditions database. It contains the Australian import conditions for more than 20000 plant, animal, microbial, mineral and human .. . .
The black carrot was the original sort, breeded as The Holy Roman Empirer of German Nation existed. The capital of this Empirer was Vienna, my city, now capital of Austria. It was breeded here from a still existing wild growing varity. We have carrots in all colours and the yellow one is almost more used here as the orange one you know.
